Les grands crus
The designation ”Grand Cru” is reserved for wines with an indication of the place of production or municipality, with at least 90% obtained from grapes harvested in the place of production or municipality and no more than 10% from grapes at another place of production in the same region.
Rules for premier Grand Cru Wines
Premier Grand Cru wines are made with traditional grape varieties: Chasselas, Pinot Noir, Gamay.The rules for their production are strict.
When all the above criteria are in place, the wine can be presented to the Premier Grand Cru Committee which has the power to grant this prestigious appellation. Approval of every vintage must be confirmed by an inspection of the vineyard and an additional tasting to verify compliance.
